2 – The ḥadith cited for this chapter points to the permissibility of eating it, and a scholarly consensus has been reached on that ruling.
3 – ‘Abd Allāh ibn ‘Umar, ‘Ikrimah, and Ibn Abī Laylā deemed eating it disliked. Their position is based on the report narrated by Abū Dāwūd (3792) and al-Bayhaqī (9/321) from Ibn ‘Umar: “It was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, but he did not eat it, nor did he forbid it.”
Earlier, however, al-Bukhārī recorded that he did eat it. Even if it were established that he did refrain from it, this would not indicate a prohibition; it would only reflect a personal dislike, not a legal ruling.
