1142 – Al-Miswar ibn Makhrama and Marwan (may Allah be pleased with them) reported: “The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—set out in the year of al-Hudaybiyyah ….” The full report is lengthy, and among its wording is: “This is the pact upon which Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah makes peace with Suhayl ibn ʿAmr: that war be laid aside for ten years, during which people shall live in safety and refrain from fighting one another.” It was recorded by Abu Dawud, and its principal narration is in al-Bukhari (1).
Muslim also transmitted part of it in the hadith of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), which reads: “Whoever comes to you from us, we will not return him to you; and whoever comes to us from you, you will return him to us.” They asked, “Shall we record this, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Yes. Whoever leaves us to go over to them—may Allah distance him; and whoever comes to us from them, Allah will grant him relief and a way out.” (2)
