Tawḍīḥ al-AḥkāmAbd Allah al-Bassam

Vocabulary of the ḥadīth:
– “The three”: al-Naḍr ibn al-Ḥārith and ʿUqbah ibn Abī Muʿayṭ; some say the third was Tuʿaymah ibn ʿAdī ibn Nawfal ibn ʿAbd Manāf. In fact, Tuʿaymah fell in the fighting at Badr and was never among the captives.
– ṣabran (deliberately executed while in custody): pronounced with an open ṣād, a still bāʾ, and ending with a rāʾ. The term applies to anyone killed outside the arena of battle or open warfare and not by mistake; such a person is described as “killed ṣabran.”
