Hadith grading (1085):
This ḥadith is ḥasan (sound).
Al-Albānī wrote: It was transmitted by Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, Ibn Mājah, al-Ṭaḥāwī, al-Bayhaqī, and Aḥmad through various chains from Dāwud ibn Bakr ibn Abī al-Furāt on the authority of Ibn al-Munkadir. Al-Tirmidhī said: “A ḥasan, singular narration (gharīb) from Jābir.” I remark: its chain is sound, for all its transmitters are trustworthy—the same men employed by the Two Shaykhs except for Dāwud, who is truthful and reliable. In addition, it has numerous supporting chains and corroborations.
