What the eminent Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said is precisely what the hadith of this chapter teaches: the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—only prompted the man who confessed, and no property was found in his possession; it was merely an admission that could have been either true or false.
