their deeds, and in every other matter that is distinctive to men.
This pattern has become visible because young women now jostle side-by-side with men in offices, government departments, companies, and similar workplaces.
3 – Both categories were cursed by the Prophet ﷺ, for they are attempting to alter the form that Allah ordained for His creatures. Allah created every being in a shape and manner suited to its nature and to the function for which it was brought into existence. To invert that order is therefore to tamper with Allah’s creation and with the innate disposition upon which He fashioned mankind.
4 – The ḥadith shows that men imitating women and women imitating men is forbidden and counts among the major sins, for the divine curse befalls only one who commits a grave offense.
5 – Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Saʿdī commented on this ḥadith:
“The default ruling for all customary matters is permissibility; nothing is unlawful unless Allah and His Messenger have declared it so—either because the thing itself is prohibited, like stolen property; because its source of acquisition is impure; or because its lawful use has been restricted to one of the two sexes. Gold, silver, and silk, for example, are reserved for women. As for the prohibition of men resembling women and vice-versa, it applies across the board, to clothing and to everything else.”
