1055 – ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
“A woman from Juhaynah came to the Prophet ﷺ while she was pregnant as a result of zinā (fornication). She said, ‘O Prophet of Allah, I have incurred a ḥadd (legal punishment); so carry it out upon me.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned her guardian and said, ‘Treat her well, and when she has delivered, bring her back to me.’ When she had given birth he brought her, and the Prophet ordered that her garments be fastened firmly around her; then he commanded that she be stoned. Afterward he performed the funeral prayer over her. ʿUmar said, ‘O Prophet of Allah! Do you pray over her even though she committed fornication?’ He replied, ‘She has repented with a repentance which, if divided among seventy of the people of Madinah, would suffice them all. Can you think of anything better than her having offered up her own life for Allah, the Exalted?’” Reported by Muslim (1).
