1050 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “A man from the Muslims came to the Messenger of Allah while he was in the mosque and called out, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery.’ The Prophet turned away from him, so the man moved round to face him and repeated, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery.’ The Prophet again turned away, and the man repeated this four times. When he had testified against himself on four separate occasions, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned him and asked, ‘Are you out of your mind?’ He answered, ‘No.’ He then asked, ‘Have you ever been married?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’ The Prophet said, ‘Take him away and stone him.’” Agreed upon (1).
1051 – Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “When Maʿiz ibn Mālik came to the Prophet ﷺ, he asked him, ‘Perhaps you only kissed, or touched, or merely looked?’ He replied, ‘No, O Messenger of Allah.’” Narrated by al-Bukhārī (2).
