1025 – Abd Allah ibn ʿAmr (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The people most insolent toward Allah are three: one who kills within the Sanctuary of Allah, one who kills someone other than his own killer, and one who kills to settle a vendetta from the Age of Ignorance.” Ibn Ḥibbān recorded it in a report he declared authentic (1), and its original wording is found in al-Bukhārī from the narration of Ibn ʿAbbās (2).
• Grade of the ḥadith:
The ḥadith is ṣaḥīḥ (sound).
In at-Talkhīṣ it is stated: Aḥmad and Ibn Ḥibbān narrated it through the Companion ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr.
It was also transmitted by al-Dāraquṭnī, al-Ṭabarānī, and al-Ḥākim through Abū Shurayḥ; and by al-Ḥākim and al-Bayhaqī through ʿĀʾishah.
Al-Bukhārī included it in his Ṣaḥīḥ from Ibn ʿAbbās with the wording: “The people most hateful to Allah are three: one who commits sacrilege in the Sacred Precinct, one who seeks in Islam a practice of the Age of Ignorance, and one who pursues the blood of a person without right so that he may shed it.”
