the hadith of Abu al-Dardaʾ, in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ vomited and then performed ablution. Al-Albani graded the narration sound, stating, “Its transmitters are trustworthy.”
The first group replied that a mere prophetic action does not of itself establish obligation; at most, it indicates that emulating him in that matter is permissible and legislated.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah remarked, “It is plainly recommended to renew ablution after cupping, vomiting, and the like—and Allah knows best.”
