956 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say—when the verse concerning the two who invoke mutual imprecation (liʿān) was revealed:
“Any woman who brings into a family someone who is not of them has no share with Allah, and Allah will never admit her into His Garden. And any man who disowns his child while he is looking at him, Allah will veil Himself from him and will disgrace him before all the former and later generations.”
Reported by Abu Dawud, al-Nasaʾi, and Ibn Majah, and declared authentic by Ibn Ḥibbān.⦗1⦘

The report is ḥasan (sound). Ibn Ḥajar stated: It was transmitted by al-Shāfiʿī, Abu Dawud, al-Nasaʾi, Ibn Majah, Ibn Ḥibbān, and al-Ḥākim; the last two judged it authentic, as did al-Dāraqutnī in al-ʿIlal, while acknowledging that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yūnus alone narrated it from Saʿīd al-Maqburī. Ibn Ḥibbān deemed Ibn Yūnus reliable, though some considered him of unknown status. For that reason Ibn Ḥajar said in al-Taqrīb: “His status is unknown, yet he is acceptable.”
