Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Saʿdī said: “As for the view that a husband is forbidden to enter the house of a wife whose turn it is not—except in cases of necessity, or for a daytime need—the correct position is to refer the matter to customary practice, for appeal to custom is a major principle in many issues, especially in matters for which there is no textual proof. This question falls under that heading.
5 – The narration also demonstrates the obligation of justice in apportioning nights among one’s wives and that showing preference to any of them is an act of wrongdoing—and wrongdoing is forbidden. In the Divine ḥadīth it is stated: ‘O My servants, I have forbidden injustice for Myself and have made it forbidden among you.’
