922 – ʿUrwah reported that ʿĀʾishah said, “O son of my sister, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never preferred any one of us over another in the division of his time among us. Scarcely a day passed without his visiting all of us in turn; he would draw near to each wife—without intercourse—until he reached the one whose allotted day it was, and there he would spend the night.” Related by Aḥmad and Abū Dāwūd—the wording is Abū Dāwūd’s—and al-Ḥākim declared it sound.⦗1⦘
Hadith grading: Its chain is ḥasan. Al-Ḥākim transmitted it and said, “Its isnād is ṣaḥīḥ,” and al-Dhahabī concurred. The second portion of the report is corroborated by the narration of Ibn ʿAbbās, recorded by al-Ṭayālisī and, through him, by al-Bayhaqī, though that chain is weak. There is also a report in this regard from Sumayyah on the authority of ʿĀʾishah whose transmitters are the trustworthy narrators of Muslim, apart from Sumayyah herself; Ibn Ḥajar considers her acceptable.
