Tawḍīḥ al-AḥkāmAbd Allah al-Bassam

908 – Safiyyah bint Shaybah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: “The Prophet ﷺ held a wedding banquet for one of his wives with only two muds of barley.” Recorded by al-Bukhari (1).

– Glossary of the ḥadith:
• Two muds: the dual of mud; a mud equals one-quarter of a sāʿ, so two muds are half of the Prophetic sāʿ, roughly 1,500 grams by modern measurement.
• Barley: the well-known cereal grain, an annual grass belonging to the Poaceae family.
