902 – On the authority of ʿAishah (may Allah be pleased with her): “ʿAmrah bint al-Jawun sought refuge from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when she was brought in to him—that is, on the occasion of their marriage. He said, ‘You have sought refuge with One Who grants refuge.’ He therefore divorced her and instructed Usamah to provide her with three garments as a consolation.” This was reported by Ibn Majah, and in its chain is a narrator who has been declared abandoned (1). The core of the story, however, is found in the Sahih through the narration of Abu Usayd al-Saʿidi (2).
