7 The ḥadith encourages marital intercourse and stirs one to it, for as long as it remains the lawful tilth. Just as farmland yields beneficial produce and wholesome fruit, so too intercourse is the means to plentiful offspring, the swelling of the Muslims’ ranks, and the realization of the Prophet’s ﷺ boast on the Day of Resurrection that his community will outnumber those of the other prophets.
