3 – These two hadiths therefore show that approaching a woman from her rear passage is one of the major sins, for a curse is pronounced only upon a grave offense.
4 – Ibn al-Qayyim, in his work on Prophetic Medicine, summarised the evidence for the prohibition of anal intercourse in several ways:
First: Allah has permitted intimacy with the wife in the place destined for children, saying, “from where Allah has commanded you” (al-Baqarah 2:222), not in al-ḥash (the site of filth and waste).
Second: The wife has a right over her husband in conjugal relations; penetration through the anus deprives her of that right, does not satisfy her desire, and fails to realise the purpose of intercourse.
Third: Anal intercourse is physically harmful to the man, which is why physicians of sound judgement discourage it.
Fourth: It breeds aversion and mutual loathing between the doer and the one to whom it is done.
Ibn al-Qayyim then elaborated on the many harms and corruptions that this repugnant act entails.
