make of them an upper caste that looks down on others, claims for itself greater rights than everyone else, and shirks the religious and customary duties that bind it. They and the rest of mankind are on an equal footing in this respect, just as they are equal before Allah the Exalted: “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-fearing.” ⦗49:13⦘
5 – Shaykh al-Islam said: It is invalid for anyone to marry off a woman under his guardianship to a Rāfiḍī, or to a man who abandons the prayer. If the guardians arrange the marriage on the assumption that the man is a Sunni who performs the prayer, and it later becomes clear that this is not the case, they must annul the marriage.
Neither an uncle nor any other guardian has the right to give his ward in marriage to an unsuitable man if she herself is not content with the match; this is unanimously agreed upon by the imams. Should he do so, he incurs the lawful punishment that will deter him and those like him from repeating such an act.
