the tremendous benefits that it brings to the spouses, their children, society, and religion alike.
One of those benefits is that it safeguards the chastity of both husband and wife, restricting each of them, by means of this blessed covenant, to his or her lawful partner and averting the lure of illicit friends.
Another is that it enlarges the community through procreation, so that the servants of Allah multiply and their numbers swell. It fulfills the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, realizes the boast he will make, enables mutual assistance in the affairs of life, and contributes to the cultivation of the earth.
It also protects lineage, through which people come to know one another, foster affection, cooperate, and support each other. Moreover, the union of husband and wife establishes a household and a family—the nucleus from which society emerges and by which it is reformed. The husband toils, labors, and earns, then spends and supports, while the wife manages the home, organizes its affairs, raises the children, and attends to their needs. In this way life proceeds smoothly and matters fall into order.
Thus we come to know that the woman’s work inside the home is great indeed, no less important than the man’s work outside it; and that if she performs well the duties entrusted to her, she will have rendered to the entire society,
