823 – Al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The maternal uncle inherits from the one who has no other heir.” It was recorded by Aḥmad and by the Four except al-Tirmidhī; Abū Zurʿah al-Rāzī judged it ḥasan, while al-Ḥākim and Ibn Ḥibbān declared it ṣaḥīḥ.⦗1⦘

Hadith grading
This hadith is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).

It reaches us through two routes:

1. Aḥmad, Saʿīd ibn Manṣūr, Abū Dāwūd, Ibn Mājah, Ibn Ḥibbān, al-Ḥākim, and others all transmit it via Badīl ibn Maysarah from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭalḥah; this isnād is ḥasan.
2. Abū Dāwūd and al-Bayhaqī relate it through Ṣāliḥ ibn Yaḥyā ibn al-Miqdām, from his father, from his grandfather; this chain is weak.

I say: Abū Zurʿah considered it ḥasan, and both al-Ḥākim and Ibn Ḥibbān ruled it authentic.

Al-Albānī remarked: “The hadith is undoubtedly sound, owing to these corroborating chains.”
