Ibn al-Mubarak said, “There is no difference of opinion among the Companions regarding the permissibility of wiping over the leather socks.”
Ibn al-Mundhir recorded a consensus on its permissibility, and the People of the Sunnah and the Community concur on it; therefore it is lawful for resident and traveller alike, for men and women, as a mercy and ease for the Muslims.
