slip into sin. Each designation therefore carries a meaning distinct from the other, while we remain certain that “there is nothing like unto Him” in His Essence or His attributes.
– A servant’s repentance to Allah is obligatory, for He, Exalted is He, says: “O you who believe, turn to Allah with sincere repentance” (Q 66:8).
The conditions for sincere repentance are:
- Remorse for the sin that has been committed.
- Immediate abandonment of the sin if one is still engaged in it.
- A firm resolve never to return to it in the future.
- Sincerity to Allah in the act of repentance.
- Repenting before the appointed term arrives and the precursors of death are witnessed.
- If the transgression involves the right of another person, restoring it to him or obtaining his pardon.
يبدر منهم من الذنوب، فلكلِّ لفظٍ معنًى، غير معنى اللفظ الآخر، مع العلم بأنَّ الله تعالى ليس كمثله شيء، في ذاته ولا صفاته.
- توبةُ العبد لله تعالى واجبة، لقوله تعالى: ﴿يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا تُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَوْبَةً نَصُوحًا﴾ [التحريم: ٨].
وللتوبة النصوح شروط:
أحدها: الندمُ على ما وقع من الذنب.
الثاني: الإقلاعُ عن الذنب إنْ كان متلبِّسًا به.
الثالث: العزمُ على أنْ لا يعود إليه في المستقبل.
الرادح: الإخلاصُ لله تعالى في التوبة.
الخامس: أنْ يتُوبَ قبل حضور الأجل، ومعاينة مقدِّمات الموت.
السادس: إنْ كان الحَقُّ الذي عليه لآدمي، ردَّه إليه أو استسمحه.
