7 – When certainty is impossible or unreasonably difficult to attain, a strong presumption (ghalabat al-ẓann) is treated as its equivalent. Because we cannot determine, by the Sharia-mandated measure of volume, the exact quantity of fruit at the top of the palm, we make do with a probable estimation (kharṣ, visual appraisal).

8 – It is lawful to enjoy comfort and luxury in what one eats, drinks, and wears, so long as this does not cross the line into extravagance or wastefulness.
