2 – The scholars explain that the wisdom behind doing so is that it enables one to walk more briskly. The first to uncover the right shoulder were the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions during the ‘umrah of reconciliation (‘umrat al-qaḍāʾ); they did this to aid their trotting (raml) so that the polytheists might witness their vigor and stamina. It then became an established sunnah.
3 – Iḍṭibāʿ is not legislated after this particular ṭawāf. Once the circumambulation is complete, one should straighten his garment and should not observe iḍṭibāʿ while performing the two post-ṭawāf units of prayer.
4 – Many pilgrims expose the right shoulder from the moment they don the iḥrām garments until they exit that state, and this is not prescribed.
5 – It is permissible to enter iḥrām in green or any other color, although white remains the most virtuous choice.
