5 – By the unanimous agreement of the Muslims, the two Yemeni corners stand upon the very foundations laid by Abraham, whereas the Shami (north-eastern) and Western corners do not, for the Hijr was cut off from the Kaʿbah and enclosed on its own.

6 – We cite this only insofar as it may explain why the two Yemeni corners are wiped while the others are not; otherwise, the true wisdom is simply to comply with Allah’s command, for He commands nothing but what is beneficial and wholesome and forbids nothing but what is harmful and corrupt. Allah knows best.
