situation to ʿĀʾishah, there is no harm in performing an ʿumrah after completing one’s hajj, thereby acting upon all the relevant proofs.
As for Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah—may Allah have mercy on him—he said: “Regarding the practice of going out to the area outside the sanctuary (ḥill) in order to perform ʿumrah, no one did this during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except ʿĀʾishah during the Farewell Pilgrimage. Even then, the Prophet ﷺ did not order her to do it; he only allowed it after she persisted in requesting it. None of his Companions who performed the Farewell Pilgrimage with him—every one of them from first to last—went out for this purpose, neither before the hajj nor after it. Likewise, none of the permanent residents of Mecca ever went out to the ḥill to perform ʿumrah. This is unanimously agreed upon and is known to all scholars who are familiar with his sunnah and his law.”
