Allah, would diligently search for the Night of Decree and persistently ask about it, because of the immense virtues that lie within that night, the torrents of goodness and blessing that descend during it, and the mercy, favor, safety, security, and peace that prevail.
– Some of the Companions actually witnessed the Night of Decree: either by its distinctive signs or in dream-visions. Shaykh Taqī al-Dīn said: “Allah may unveil it to certain people, whether in sleep or wakefulness, so that they behold its lights or hear someone telling them, ‘This is the Night of Decree.’ Some Companions saw it and came to inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of what they had experienced. He ﷺ then said, ‘I see—meaning, I know—that your dreams have concurred,’ that is, they have agreed on a close time frame: ‘it is in the last seven nights, so whoever is searching for it, let him look during the last seven nights.’”
– The last seven nights of Ramadan are the most likely period in which the night occurs.
– The virtue and honor of the Night of Decree are such that Allah Most High has placed in it stores of goodness and blessing, so that worship performed in it is better than worship spread over a thousand months of any other days and nights.
– Out of His mercy for His servants and His wise governance, Allah has concealed the exact night so that Muslims will exert themselves in worship throughout those nights and thereby multiply their reward. Had its date been fixed, most people would have restricted their striving to that one night—except those whom Allah wills.
– It is recommended to seek it out and to expose oneself to the breezes of Allah’s grace on it, for it is a blessed night in which deeds are multiplied, supplications are answered, calls for help are heard, and slips are forgiven. Whoever is deprived of its good and of striving to attain it is truly deprived; and Allah alone grants success.
