Reported by Ahmad (7318), al-Tirmidhi (678) and Ibn Majah (1730): the Prophet ﷺ said, “Deeds are presented every Monday and Thursday, and I would love for my deeds to be presented while I am fasting.”
10 – The ḥadith offers no proof for the legitimacy of holding mawlid celebrations, for acts of worship are established only by revelation. The Lawgiver Himself identified the act of worship appropriate to Monday—namely, the excellence of fasting on that day—so we confine ourselves to what is textually established and do not go beyond it.
11 – The meaning of “presentation of deeds,” and Allah knows best, is that they are displayed, reported, and recompensed before Him. It is therefore preferable that one’s deeds be presented on a day when he is fasting, so that his adornment on that day is made manifest; every occasion has its own fitting adornment and appearance.
