533 – ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAdī ibn al-Khiyār reported: “Two men informed me that they came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asking him for ṣadaqah (charitable alms). He looked them up and down and, seeing that they were two able-bodied men, said, ‘If you wish I will give you, but there is no share in it for a wealthy person, nor for a strong man who can earn a living.’” Reported by Aḥmad, and declared sound by Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasāʾī (1).
