affection, compassion, and a natural instinct. Yet the discerning person whom Allah grants success never neglects to summon a righteous intention when he spends, nor to fulfil the duty that Allah has enjoined and warned against abandoning. He does so in obedience to Allah Almighty, yearning for what lies with Him, and anticipating His reward. When he spends with this sincere, wholesome intention, he attains the benefit of both worlds.
