- The three handfuls of earth cast by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ are a sanctioned practice for his community and a means of sharing in the reward of burial.
- Whoever did not actually lower the deceased into the grave is still recommended to throw three handfuls of soil onto it—following the Prophet’s ﷺ example and taking part in the fulfillment of this communal obligation.
٣ - الثلاث الحثيات التي حثاها رسول الله ﷺ تشريعٌ لأمته، ومشاركة في أجر الدفن.
٤ - مَن لم يتول الدفن، يستحب له أن يحثو ثلاث حثيات من تراب على القبر؛ اقتداء بالنبي ﷺ، ومشاركة في أداء الواجب، وفرض الكفاية في الدفن.
