Tawḍīḥ al-AḥkāmAbd Allah al-Bassam

11 – The hadith showcases the Prophet’s ﷺ refined manner of speaking about evil and repugnant matters, as in his words, “Let it be other than that.” A speaker should therefore select the finest and most eloquent expressions.

12 – His ﷺ statement, “then it is a good you are sending on ahead to him,” refers to the everlasting bliss that Allah has prepared for the deceased. As for his words, “or an evil you relieve yourselves of,” they mean that the deceased is removed from them and from mercy, so there is no benefit for them in accompanying it. This explanation was given by Ibn al-Mulqin. End of quote.
