Tawḍīḥ al-AḥkāmAbd Allah al-Bassam
  1. Ibn al-Qayyim said: “It is recommended to pronounce the adhan (call to prayer) in the newborn’s right ear and the iqamah (commencement call) in the left, so that the very first words to reach a person’s hearing are the words of the adhan—just as he is prompted with them when departing this world—thereby ensuring that his summons to Allah and to His religion, Islam, precedes the summons of Satan.”
