7 – The ḥadith affirms that causes are real: when the rain is cut off, roads are closed, lands are devastated, and livestock and trees are lost.
8 – It establishes the legitimacy of raising one’s hands while praying. So many reports exist on this point that scholars deem it mass-transmitted in meaning. Al-Bukhārī gathered a number of them in his “Book of Raising the Hands,” then concluded: “These ḥadiths are authentic from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions. There are many other narrations on the subject besides what I have cited, but what I have mentioned is sufficient.”
9 – The ḥadith also points to human weakness and man’s inability to endure either excess or deficiency. Allah, exalted is He, says, “Man was created weak” (4:28). Man is weak in body and constitution, faltering in determination and will, fragile in faith. Out of mercy, the Lord lightened his burdens and placed on him no hardship or constraint in what He obligated. He says, “Allah intends to lighten your burden” (4:28), and He says, “He has not placed upon you in the religion any hardship” (22:78).
