351 – Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Madinah to Makkah, and he continued to perform every prayer as two rakʿahs, two rakʿahs, until we returned to Madinah.” Agreed upon, and the wording is al-Bukhārī’s. (1)
352 – Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “The Prophet ﷺ stayed for nineteen days shortening the prayer.” In another wording: “He stayed in Makkah for nineteen days.” Reported by al-Bukhārī.
In a narration recorded by Abū Dāwūd it is “seventeen,”
while another has “fifteen.” (2)
Abū Dāwūd also transmits from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn: “eighteen.” (3)
353 – And he (Abū Dāwūd) transmits from Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him): “He stayed at Tabūk for twenty days, shortening the prayer.” All of its narrators are trustworthy, though there is disagreement over whether the chain is connected. (4)

Hadith grading:
• With regard to the various transmissions of Ibn ʿAbbās’s report, al-Bayhaqī said: “The soundest of them is the version recorded by al-Bukhārī.”
• As for the report of ʿImrān, its chain includes ʿAlī ibn Zayd ibn Judʿān, and he is weak.
