349 – Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Allah, Exalted is He, loves that His concessions be taken just as He hates that His disobedience be committed.” It was narrated by Aḥmad and declared authentic by Ibn Khuzaymah and Ibn Ḥibbān.
In another wording: “…just as He loves that His firm commands be observed.” (1)
Authentication of the ḥadith:
The report is ṣaḥīḥ; its chain fulfills Muslim’s criteria. It is further supported by the narrations of Ibn ʿAbbās, Ibn Masʿūd, Abū Hurayrah, Anas, Abū al-Dardāʾ, and Abū Umāmah.
1 – The ḥadith of Ibn ʿAbbās was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān, Abū Nuʿaym (6/276), and al-Shīrāzī with the wording: “Indeed Allah loves that His concessions be taken just as He loves that His firm commands be observed.”
2 – The ḥadith of Ibn Masʿūd was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr (10/84).
3 – The ḥadith of Abū Hurayrah was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym.
4 – The ḥadith of Anas was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr (8/153) and by al-Dūlābī with a weak chain; it also has another route.
5 – The ḥadith of Abū al-Dardāʾ was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsat (5/155). Shaykh al-Albānī said: “In sum, the ḥadith is authentic in both of its wordings: ‘just as He hates that His disobedience be committed’ and ‘just as He loves that His firm commands be observed.’”
