—I shall not take you to task for what you said in certain sermons delivered in your home city of Aleppo; that issue belongs to others—those very people you accuse of fabricating lies against you. Rather, I will indict you on the basis of what your own wayward pen has written against the two Shaykhs, may Allah have mercy on them both:
1 – In your marginal note on Iqāmat al-Ḥujjah (p. 29), under the biography of Ibn Taymiyyah, you acknowledged what the author reported—that Ibn Taymiyyah espoused corrupt doctrines for which al-Yāfiʿī, Ibn Ḥajar al-Makki, and others rebuked him. Not only that, you repeated the same charge in your note on Rafʿ wa-t-Takmīl (p. 135) as an explicit endorsement. When the discerning reader consults the passage of Ibn Ḥajar al-Makki, he will find accusations against Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah identical to those leveled by al-Kawtharī: anthropomorphism, corporealism, and other matters we need not detail here—coupled with the harshest vilification at the beginning and end of his remarks, echoing al-Kawtharī’s own invective:
“In sum, his words merit no consideration at all; they should be flung into crag and ravine. One must hold that he is a deviant innovator, a misguiding, ignorant extremist. May Allah hasten His just retribution upon him, save us from the likes of his path, creed, and deeds, humble his followers, and scatter the ranks of those who hold his beliefs.”
These are his words about Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah in Fatāwā Ḥadīthiyyah (pp. 86–87).
So, if a man is truly sincere in venerating and honoring the Shaykh, would he really direct readers to al-Haythamī’s statements—so rife with takfīr and condemnation—as you have done? Or does this not clearly show that the one who cites them is a fierce enemy of the Shaykh? Precisely this was done before you by other adversaries of Ibn Taymiyyah, such as Shaykh Muḥammad Bakhīt al-Muṭīʿī in his treatise Taṭhīr al-Fuʾād min Danas al-Iʿtiqād, wherein he assails Ibn Taymiyyah to his heart’s content, relying wholly on that same passage of Ibn Ḥajar al-Makki in the Fatāwā and quoting it in its entirety!!
