of the one who utters them.” (1) This narration is found in the Sunan collections.
Likewise, Allah says,
“On the Day when every soul will find present before it whatever good it has done and whatever evil it has done; it will wish that there were a great distance between it and that evil.” (Q 3:30)
He also says,
“They will find all that they did laid out before them.” (Q 18:49)
And He says,
“Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.” (Q 99:7–8)
This is further confirmed by the ḥadith in the two Ṣaḥīḥs: “No owner of stored treasure who fails to pay its zakāt will be spared; on the Day of Resurrection it will be molded for him as a bald-headed serpent…” (2) and so forth.
This is the meaning of Allah’s words, “On the Day of Resurrection that which they withheld will be placed like a collar round their necks” (Q 3:180), and His statement, “On the Day it will be heated in the Fire of Hell…” (Q 9:35). Yet these refer to physical bodies.
Allah, exalted is He, has also said,
“Those who disbelieve say to the believers, ‘Follow our way and we will bear your sins.’ But they will bear none of their sins at all; they are surely liars. They will certainly carry their own burdens, and burdens along with their own burdens.” (Q 29:12–13)
