90 — Ishāq ibn Ismā‘īl narrated to us. Ya‘lā ibn ‘Ubayd narrated to us. Abān ibn Ishāq narrated to us, from al-Sabbāh ibn Muhammad, from Murra, from ‘Abd Allah, who said: One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a group of his Companions, “Observe true modesty before Allah.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, we certainly do so.” He replied, “That is not true modesty before Allah. Rather, whoever observes true modesty before Allah must guard the head and all that it contains, and the belly and all that it holds; he must remember death and decay. Whoever desires the Hereafter forsakes the adornments of this world. Whoever does so has truly observed modesty before Allah.”
