88 — Abū Khaythama narrated to us. Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us. He said: Abū Na‘āma al-‘Adawī narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilāl, from Bashīr ibn Ka‘b, from ‘Imrān ibn Husayn, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Modesty is wholly good.”
I said, “Yet some of it is weakness, and some of it is incapacity.” He replied, “I narrate to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you come to me with oblique remarks! I will not narrate another hadith to you for as long as I know you.”
They said, “O Abū Nujayd, he is of sound disposition, and he is…and he is…” They continued appealing to him until he calmed down.
