Makarim al-AkhlaqIbn Abi al-Dunya

80 — Al-Hasan ibn Hammād al-Dabbī narrated to us: Abū Yahyā al-Himmānī narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Muslim ibn Subayh, from Masrūq, from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard something about a man, he would not say, “Why did you say such-and-such?” Rather, he would address the matter in general, saying, “What is the matter with some people?”
