Makarim al-AkhlaqIbn Abi al-Dunya

481 — Muhammad ibn Ishāq al-Musayyibī related: Ibrāhīm ibn Abī Damra told me: During Eid, al-Hakam ibn al-Muttalib passed through the sheep market. The market guards approached and greeted him, so he stopped, returned their greeting, and asked them about the prices of the sacrificial animals. They told him that they were expensive and cost thirty each. He then turned to his father’s client, Amr ibn Abī Amr, the client of al-Muttalib, and said, “Buy two sheep for each of them from whichever ones they point out to you.” Then he urged his mount onward and departed.
