480 — He said: Also among the material Zubayr authorized us to transmit, he said: Nawfal ibn Maymūn informed me, saying: Abū Mālik Muhammad ibn Mālik ibn Alī ibn Harma recited to me these verses by his paternal uncle, Ibrāhīm ibn Alī ibn Harma, in praise of al-Hakam ibn al-Muttalib:
“[Long meter]
Some men slept the morning away, neglecting glory and high honor;
by midday they lay asleep, while he did not sleep late.
Whenever a people’s honor is scarred by their baseness,
he escapes their baseness unscathed, himself unscarred.
Because of your blessedness, glory has loosed its saddle at your side,
amid lush abundance and spacious pasture.”
