50 — Muhammad ibn Bakr ibn Khālid related to me: Ubayd Allah ibn al-Abbās ibn al-Rabī al-Hārithī, one of the people of Najrān in Yemen, narrated to us at Arafāt, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahmān ibn al-Baylamānī, from his father, from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Two qualities belong to the character of the Arabs and form part of the mainstay of religion, yet you are on the verge of abandoning them.” He was asked, “What are they, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Modesty and noble character.”
