433 — Muhammad ibn Sālih al-Qurashī told me: Abu al-Yaqzān told me: Juwayriya ibn Asmā told me, on the authority of Ismāil ibn Yasār, who said: Al-Farazdaq met al-Husayn—may Allah be pleased with him—at al-Sifāh, and al-Husayn ordered that he be given four hundred dinars. Someone said, “O Abu Abd Allah, you have given a mendacious poet four hundred dinars!” He replied, “Among the best uses of your wealth is safeguarding your honor with it.”
