Makarim al-AkhlaqIbn Abi al-Dunya

431 — Muhammad ibn al-Husayn told me: Ishāq ibn Mansūr al-Salūlī told us: Ubayd ibn Abī al-Wasīm al-Jammāl told us: “We went to Imrān ibn Mūsā ibn Talha ibn Ubayd Allah to ask for his help with a debt owed by one of our companions. He ordered dining tables to be set out, then said, ‘Not until you partake of our food, so that your due and your inviolable claim upon us become binding.’ We therefore ate some of his food, whereupon he ordered that we be given ten thousand dirhams to pay off the man’s debt and five thousand dirhams for his family’s expenses.”
