407 — Ya‘qūb ibn Ubayd narrated to me, saying: Hishām ibn Ammār narrated to us: Yahyā ibn Hamza narrated to us: al-Hakam ibn Abd Allāh narrated to us, from al-Qāsim, from Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—who said:
Al-Aswad ibn Wahb sought permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—spread out his cloak for him and said, “Sit down, O maternal uncle, for a maternal uncle is like a father.”
She added, “I never heard the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—address him by his name; he would only call him, ‘O maternal uncle.’”
