376 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; Ibrāhīm ibn Abd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn al-Simmah al-Muhallabī narrated to me, saying: “One day, Abū Uyaynah ibn al-Muhallab went out, and Marwān ibn al-Hakam al-Usaydī followed him carrying a jug of water. When Abū Uyaynah had finished his ablution, he turned and saw a man standing there. He asked, ‘What do you need?’ The man replied, ‘I came to you with a jug of water.’ He exclaimed, ‘Glory be to Allah!’ and ordered that he be granted three hundred jarībs of land.”
