374 — Abū Zayd al-Numayrī informed me, saying: Abū Salama al-Ghifārī narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahmān ibn Abd Allāh, a member of the clan of Adī ibn Ka'b, informed me, saying: One day, Sa'īd ibn al-Ās came walking alone through the mosque. A man from Quraysh rose and walked alongside him on his right. When they reached Sa'īd’s house, Sa'īd turned to him and asked, “What do you need?” He replied, “I need nothing. I saw you walking alone, so I accompanied you.” Sa'īd then said to his steward, Abū Ka'b, “How much of our money do you have on hand?” He replied, “Thirty thousand.” Sa'īd said, “Give it to him.”
