372 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, saying: Ismāīl ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, from Yūnus ibn Ubayd, who said: “Ziyād al-A'lam used to send gifts to Thābit al-Bunānī, Yazīd al-Raqāshī, and Yazīd al-Dabbī.” He added, “Thus, he would give gifts to needy people who were unable to reciprocate.” When al-Hasan came to prominence, Ziyād began sending him gifts, and al-Hasan would likewise send gifts to him. Ziyād al-A'lam then said, “We have wearied the shaykh.”
